What is Zoom?

Zoom is a free service we can use to connect with one another through your mobile phone or computer. If you have a camera on your phone or a webcam in your computer, it allows you to share your own video, but you can also join in without via phone call.

How Do I Join a Zoom Class?

To join a Zoom class or service, you only need two things: the link to the event, and the Zoom app if you’re using a mobile phone. You don’t even need to make an account! If you’re not sure how to download an application for your phone, just click the event link and it will prompt you to do so.

If the link to your class or service is not listed publicly, email UnityRadiantLight@gmail.com to request to join. Once you receive the link, that link works for every class if it is a continuing, weekly event.

How to Use Features on Zoom

  • Connect Your Video: When you first enter a Zoom meeting, the other members cannot automatically see you. If you would like to share video of you during class, press Start Video when it pops up in the bottom left of your screen.

  • Connect Your Audio: When you first enter a Zoom meeting, the other members cannot automatically hear you. In order to enable this feature, press Join Audio when it pops up in the bottom left of your screen.

  • Mute Your Audio: During the duration of the class, you may want to disable sound coming from your home so that everyone can hear the instructor. To do so, tap once on the image of the microphone at the bottom of the screen. It should turn red and appear crossed off. If you’re on a mobile device, you may need to tap once on the screen in order to get these features to appear. You can tap the microphone icon again to enable it.

  • Stopping Video: Tap once on the video camera icon to disable video. You can tap it again to enable it.
